Canadian Firearms Journal - December 2010
Canada’s recreational firearms community is aging. New shooter recruitment is critical if we are to preserve our firearms heritage. Introducing kids to the shooting sports in a fun, safe and ethical manner is critical to both the future of our sport and the preservation of our rights as law-abiding gun owners. Please consider becoming a mentor to youth in your area. Contact your local gun club, provincial hunting org or similar group and volunteer your time in this exceedingly important initiative. view - download
Canadian Firearms Journal - November 2010
On June 13th 1995 Bill C-68, the “final solution” to the firearms issue in Canada proposed by the majority government of Jean Chretien, passed 192 to 63. On September 22nd 2010, Bill C-391, a private members bill from Manitoba MP Candice Hoeppner intended to kill the long gun registry, was defeated by a motion from Liberal MP Mark Holland by a vote of 153 to 151; despite having passed the critical second reading the November before with a healthy margin... view - download

After listening to feedback from members and working with our Quebec directors, we’ll be adding more French content to better serve our French-speaking members starting this issue. To begin, you’ll find President Sheldon Clare’s inaugural message printed in English & French, as well as a new article from Quebec Director Stephen Buddo. He addresses the current disinformation campaign the BQ is currently waging in his home province against Bill C-391. view - download

This is a special issue for me, as it marks my final column as your vice-president, communications. Our 2010 AGM has come and gone and we have a great new executive in place. For now, my focus is going to lean more towards marketing & promotion. In that role, I’ll be exploring new ways to grow & improve our magazine as Editor-in-chief, keep our web site content fresh and make sure our members are kept informed. view - download
Canadian Firearms Journal - May 2010
The battle for the future direction of gun control in Canada goes on. Will the civil disarmament agenda set into place by Liberal governments in the 1970’s, and advanced by Progressive Conservative and Liberal Firearms Acts in the 1990’s continue? Or will the Conservative government set a new direction in addressing the criminal misuse of firearms and public safety? MP Candace Hoeppner’s private members bill C-391 proposes to amend the current Liberal Firearms Act by removing the requirement to hold a registration for a non restricted long gun... view - download

Professor Gary Mauser is back with his report on developments from the International Front. With the Obama Administration considering signing onto many of the more oppressive international gun control initiatives, especially the UN marking scheme and controls on the trade and export of ammunition, etc. The United Nations may very well become the next great contest for pro-firearms lobbyists across Canada and the world. view - download
Canadian Firearms Journal - January 2010
We had a busy fall, keeping up with membership drives, fundraiser campaigns and the many political activities we were involved with. The UN Small Arms Marking scheme, several court cases, including Bruce Montague’s, the proposed changes to the Canadian Explosives Act, the proposed bylaws and, of course, continuing working toward replacing C-68/Firearms Act served to keep us hopping in 2009. view - download

Canadian Firearms Journal - November 2009
Welcome to our annual fall “hunting” issue of the Canadian Firearms Journal. As you can tell, we’ve made a number of changes to the magazine since our last issue. Before getting into the meat of things, I’d like to first thank outgoing editor-in-chief, Mr. Christopher di Armani for all his hard work and dedication to the magazine and to the National Firearms Association. Christopher is involved professionally in the movie business in his home province, so “free time” comes at a premium for him... view - download
Canadian Firearms Journal - August 2009
This edition digs into the meat of a few issues and traces them back to an old one, and then looks to the future to see what we gun owners can expect if things keep moving forward on the same path they are now. We’ve received a lot of questions about the Bruce Montague case, and what becomes obvious from the framing of some of those questions is that most people don’t really know what the Montague case is all about, or why it is important to them. We’ll address that in depth in this issue. view - download
Canadian Firearms Journal - June 2009
This issue brings the usual faces back with some fantastic stories, and highlights a few issues that have been causing gun owners across Canada a great deal of concern. One of our members had a run-in with police, who apparently didn’t know or understand the regulations on firearms in a vehicle. In our Letters to the Editor section Sheldon Clare answers Blaine’s question on what the law really is and how it applies to his family. view - download
