CABINET CHOICES PROVIDE REASON FOR OPTIMISM
“The appointments to the Conservative Cabinet reflect a willingness of the government to listen to firearms owners. The NFA was clear to the PMO that it was unhappy with some previous ministers; now there is an opportunity for us to start afresh with new ministers in Public Safety (Blaney) and Justice (McKay)”, stated President Sheldon Clare this morning from Prince George, BC. “It is also worth noting that ministers who have been working well with the firearms related aspects of their portfolios have been retained in their positions”, he continued – “Joe Oliver remains in charge of Natural Resources, and John Baird is still running Foreign Affairs. There will certainly be some need for education on our files for the new Public Safety and Justice ministers, but we expect that at the very least they will grant us an audience, something that their predecessors never did. We are already reaching out to set up meetings to represent our continued need for change”, Clare concluded.
Canada’s National Firearms Association is this country’s largest advocacy organization promoting the rights and freedoms of all responsible firearm owners and users.
