If You’re Not in the Room, You’re Not in the Fight! – The UN, 2025

If You're Not in the Room, You're Not in the Fight! - The UN, 2025

Canada’s National Firearms Association attended the United Nations 2025 Preparatory Meeting of States on the Global Framework for Through-life Conventional Ammunition Management.

What we witnessed was deeply concerning.

Instead of focusing on real-world solutions to armed conflict or criminal misuse, the conversation veered into absurd territory — with some delegates blaming legal, law-abiding firearms owners for issues like gender-based violence, spousal abuse, and even climate change.

Yes — climate change.

The United Nations entertained proposals that would make life harder for responsible Canadian firearms owners and ammunition manufacturers, including burdensome requirements to mark every component of a cartridge. Measures that have no bearing on the issues being discussed, but which will certainly drive up costs and create more red tape.

And while the Liberal government’s delegation sat there nodding in agreement — and at times even adding to the nonsense — we were in that room representing you.

We stood up and spoke out for Canada’s legal firearms owners. Because, this is the basis of legislation that we will see come to Canada if pursued, and if you’re not in the room, you’re not in the fight.

♟Why It Matters: The battle for firearms rights is far from over. As history has shown, the Liberals will come at us again, and we have a lot to work to undo. It’s crucial for us to remain strong, stay informed, and maintain a strong front and membership. Together, we can defend our rights and ensure a secure future for hunters, collectors and sport shooters across Canada.
