Letter to Stephen Harper, Prime Minister – June 12, 2013

June 12, 2013

Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2
Dear Prime Minister Harper:

Request for Cabinet Shuffle

As president of Canada’s National Firearms Association, this country’s largest and most active advocacy organization serving the interests of Canadian firearms users, I write to respectfully request that Public Safety Minister Vic Toews and Justice Minister Rob Nicholson be replaced by members more responsive to the needs of the Canadian firearms owning public. Both of these ministers have consistently refused to meet with representatives of Canada’s National Firearms Association regarding our sincere desire for significant firearms law reform. Letters in response to our entreaties have been full of kind platitudes, but without substance or action. Unfortunately they are not responsive to the requests of firearms owners — who, even after the scrapping of the long-gun registry, are still being treated as criminals by the police.

If you have any questions about this request, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. I may be reached on my cell phone at 250-981-1841, or by email at sheldon@nfa.ca.

Yours truly,
