CPC Virtual Convention 2021

Be involved and make changes

ATTENTION GUNNIES:

Time is running out to become eligible to participate in the Conservative Party of Canada’s (CPC) upcoming virtual National Policy Convention scheduled for March 18 to 20, 2021.

See https://cpc21.ca/

The Liberals are planning a spring 2021 election and are expected make stricter gun controls an election plank again.

Canadian Firearms owners, free speech advocates and al who value personal liberty, individual freedom and private property rights cannot afford to ignore politics anymore. We are at a crucial tipping point and all may be lost if you do not step up and participate now.

Every CPC Electoral District Association (EDA) is allowed 9 adult delegates + 1 youth delegate who will be entitled to vote on adding new policies and revising existing ones.

We need CPC members who are also NFA members to formally apply as Convention Delegates so they can advance our work of entrenching stronger civilian gun right declarations into the party’s official Policy Declaration before the next election.

See the standing 106) Firearm Policy in the Conservative Policy Declaration document here: https://cpcassets.conservative.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/15090948/9f7f204744e7480.pdf

The Firearms Policy is the culmination of years of grass roots party work and support for civilian firearms rights and it has a direct influence on the party Leader, MPs, candidates and the party as a whole. The policy provides party direction and helps guard against dubious socially liberal forces working within the party to maintain stricter Canadian gun controls.

The NFA has worked hard to entrench core conservative principles and values into the CPC Firearms Policy at every policy convention and we can be proud of our accomplishments thus far; however, more work needs to be done.

The deadline to apply as a Convention Delegate with convention voting rights is January 15th, 2021.

In order to qualify you must first join or renew your party membership by December 25th, 2020.

If you are not yet a CPC member, please join or renew your CPC membership TODAY at https://donate.conservative.ca/membership/

You can check the status of your current CPC membership here: https://www.conservative.ca/membership-check/

If you’re not sure whether your membership has lapsed, you can also check your membership status by phoning CPC headquarters between 9am – 5pm on weekdays at 1-866-808-8407.

The party will open up the Convention Delegate application process on January 4th, 2021. Early bird pricing is $199 for adult delegates and $99 for youth delegates.

Canadian firearms owners who are also CPC members have always made a strong showing at every CPC Policy Convention. This one will be no different.

We have the numbers to win. Social conservatives are one of the largest factions in the Conservative Party’s base.

The fact that an unprecedented large mass of Canadian firearms owners joined the CPC during the CPC leadership race to support gun rights is a testament to the influence we collectively have on the party today.

If you are a gunnie currently sitting on a CPC Electoral District Association (EDA) Board in your riding, please shoot us an email to let us know by sending an email to info@nfa.ca.

Why is this important?

Before delegates get to vote on policy resolutions at the 2021 convention, those policies must first pass an earlier round of online voting by EDAs across the country.

If proposed pro-gun rights policy addendums or amendments don’t make it past the initial EDA-level voting process, delegates at the virtual convention won’t have anything to support!

We need to work with friendly EDA Board members to ensure that firearm rights policy resolutions and constitutional amendments pass to the next stage.

If you happen to be an EDA President or Policy Chair, we especially want to hear from you.

JOIN YOUR EDA BOARD AT THE NEXT AGM

Many CPC EDAs across the country are holding their Annual General Meetings early next year, before the convention.

So please consider attending the AGM in your local riding, either in person or virtually, and putting your name forward to join the EDA Board and volunteer to work in the Policy Committee.

Find your local CPC EDA here: https://www.conservative.ca/team/edas/

This way, you might be able to have a say in supporting good policy resolutions and voting against bad ones.

The most influential position in each EDA is President, followed by Policy Chair and Constitution Chair. Consider vying for these roles.

We know we can win at a numbers game but it all starts with getting as many people like you engaged as we can.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
