MINISTER VIC TOEWS RESPONDS TO MY LETTER AFTER 433 DAYS!
MINISTER VIC TOEWS RESPONDS TO MY LETTER AFTER 433 DAYS!
AND JUST 4 DAYS AFTER THE PMO ADVISED HIM TO RESPOND
Note: Copies of the following letters are attached to the date.
APRIL 4, 2012 – Sent a hard copy of my Open Letter to Public Safety Minister Vic Toews advising: “The sad fact is that law-abiding gun owners will continue to be treated worse than criminals even after the long-gun registry is scrapped.” A copy of this letter was sent to every Conservative MP and Senator – not one responded.
APRIL 25, 2013 – Re-sent a copy of my letter to Public Safety Minister Vic Toews via e-mail stating: “my own MP has been unable to get any response from your office so I don’t think it was lost in the mail. I think a year is long enough to wait, don’t you?” I also sent another copy of this e-mail with another copy of my letter of to every Conservative MP and Senator – once again, no one responded.
MAY 15, 2013 – I wrote to Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking: “I hope you can put some pressure on Minister Toews to respond directly to the concerns I raised in this letter. These issues are important, not just for me, but for the entire firearms community.”
JUNE 7, 2013 – Letter from the PMO stating: “We have been in contact with the office of the Hon. Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. They have assured us that a response to your concerns is forthcoming.”
JUNE 11, 2013 – Public Safety Minister Vic Toews finally responds: “Your concerns will inform the next steps we take.” Not really the response I was hoping for.
