NFA considers motion to condemn Liberals

With yet more completely unreasonable and unjustified firearms legislation being forced upon Canadians, Canada’s National Firearms Association is taking the unprecedented step of considering a motion to condemn the Liberal government.

NFA President Sheldon Clare explained, “We are consulting with our membership with regards to condemning the Liberal government for its actions.  We have had fifty years of gun control that has had nothing to do with preventing crime, and everything to do with civil disarmament.  If anyone still thinks that their skeet or trap gun will be unaffected by these changes, they need look no further than the Order in Council, and its effect upon pellet and BB guns, as well as air soft guns, and paintball markers.  The NFA is seeking member input on the matter as the Liberal dominated Commons Public Safety Committee recently passed a motion to condemn the NFA over remarks made during an NFA Talk episode.”

Clare continued, “Since this was an attack on our entire membership and organization, we believe that it is appropriate to go to the membership on the matter.  We are surveying members about the matter, and the results will go to our board of directors for action.  It is important for us to have a clear understanding of the level of contempt that our members hold for this government and its actions.  We have an expectation that the membership would support this step, but as it is a drastic measure we want to ensure that any motion to condemn has broad support within our community.”

“Canada already has some of the most onerous and unnecessary firearms control in the world,” stated Clare, “Canadian firearms owners are statistically less likely to be involved in criminal activity than the general population.”

Mr. Clare continued, “The Liberal firearms control proposals floated for public consumption will cost the taxpayer in excess of ten billion dollars – all to regulate people who are over-regulated with additional controls that will merely steal private property, harm businesses, cost people their jobs, and build a strong lack of respect for the law.  None of Canada’s past firearms control laws have reduced violent crime, prevented or limited violence, or reduced suicide rates.”

Canada’s National Firearms Association is this country’s largest and most effective advocacy organization representing the interests of firearms owners and users. Canada’s National Firearms Association is the largest Canadian organization fighting for the rights of Canadian firearms users.  NFA is a registered UN NGO with consultative status to ECOSOC.
